India to Send First Humans to Space and Deep Sea by 2025, Says Union Minister
Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that India is set to achieve two major milestones
by 2025: sending the first Indian astronauts into space through the ISRO's Gaganyaan
mission and launching a crewed deep-sea expedition under the 'Samudrayaan' initiative. Four
Indian Air Force officers have been selected for the Gaganyaan mission, which will involve
a three-day orbit around Earth. Meanwhile, the Samudrayaan mission, led by the Ministry of
Earth Sciences, will send three individuals 6,000 meters deep into the Indian Ocean using the
indigenously developed Matsya6000 submersible. The minister highlighted the rapid growth
of India's space sector, which now includes nearly 200 startups
