A task force chaired by Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Indian

government, has recommended that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology

(MeitY) allocate Rs. 44,000 crore between 2024 and 2030 to develop domestic electronics

and semiconductor products and build global brands. The funds would be distributed across

various sectors, including Rs. 15,000 crore for electronic products, Rs. 11,000 crore for

semiconductor products, and Rs. 18,000 crore for incentives like talent development,

infrastructure, and IP acquisition. The task force emphasizes exclusive benefits for Indian

companies and suggests extending the PLI scheme for electronics manufacturing until 2030.

The report forecasts the Indian electronics market to reach $3 trillion by 2047, with $1 trillion

from exports
