A task force chaired by Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Indian
government, has recommended that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology
(MeitY) allocate Rs. 44,000 crore between 2024 and 2030 to develop domestic electronics
and semiconductor products and build global brands. The funds would be distributed across
various sectors, including Rs. 15,000 crore for electronic products, Rs. 11,000 crore for
semiconductor products, and Rs. 18,000 crore for incentives like talent development,
infrastructure, and IP acquisition. The task force emphasizes exclusive benefits for Indian
companies and suggests extending the PLI scheme for electronics manufacturing until 2030.
