The 25th Prime Minister’s Science, Technology & Innovation Advisory Council (PMSTIAC)

meeting, chaired by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, discussed strategies for implementing

Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies in India. The meeting

reviewed inter-ministerial reports on CCUS policy, the carbon market, and carbon credit

schemes. India aims to reduce emission intensity by 45% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by

2070. Key discussions included the need for a comprehensive CCUS policy framework, the

role of carbon markets, and fostering large-scale adoption of CCUS technologies. Prof. Sood

called for a mission-mode approach, with the Ministry of Power potentially leading the

initiative.
