India Launches Graphene Engineering and Innovation Centre to Lead Advanced Material Technologies Under Viksit Bharat@2047 Vision

   The India Graphene Engineering and Innovation Centre (IGEIC), a significant initiative under the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, has been launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. This first-of-its-kind not-for-profit Section 8 company will serve as a hub for the commercialization of graphene technology, driving innovation across industries such as electronics, energy storage, healthcare, and sustainable material development.

   Launched by Secretary Shri S. Krishnan, IGEIC will bolster India's leadership in advanced material technologies, with its R&D base in Trivandrum, Kerala, and a Corporate Development Hub in Bangalore. The manufacturing unit, supported by the Government of Kerala, is located in Palakkad, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for graphene development.

   Shri S. Krishnan emphasized that IGEIC will play a key role in driving cutting-edge solutions, fostering economic growth, and providing opportunities for startups, SMEs, academia, and industry. This initiative is part of India's Graphene Aurora program, reflecting the nation's ambition to lead the global graphene revolution while encouraging bi-lateral collaborations.
